well written - a good read.

I like your point about the repression tolerance part is required for the "woke" epithet.

alt-right or whatever term does not seem to have repressive effect - yet.

Although would be good to go over some examples of what is considered to be it in case I am bit out of the loop

To me the biggest repressive part on the mainstream conservative/right would be that combatting anti-israel / anti-semitism, and its been going on for decades so its hardly new.

(and not a big thing in NZ)

Edit: A NZ specific thing might be destiny church vs pride/trans, but again isn't that an old thing - reactionary

Thanks for those comments. I guess as examples I think most of the PC slur terms - racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-Semitic, Islamophobic - would be examples of repressive tolerance and therefore woke. I agree on your anti-semitism point.

There’s an interesting discussion about whether shutting down pride parades is repressive tolerance. I would argue that if your shutting down speech, expressions of opinion, debate, etc then yes it is. If you’re shutting down bad behaviour, like parading around nude or in sexually explicit garb in front of children, then no. Might do a blog post on this another day.

The term “woke right” can be argued for and against, with good arguments on both sides. But whatever you may think of the term, James Lindsay and others are undeniably revealing an important truth. With the way some people on the right are conducting themselves, the conservative movement could be heading down the path of destruction. It’s important that we don’t fall into this path which is so clearly breaking things apart.
